At the recent regular Board meeting, the following accomplishments were recognized. Congratulations to all for your outstanding achievements!
Young Artists Competition: Congratulations to Keysha Hallberg and Kyle Spackman, Grade 4 students at Crestwood School, who were selected as winners of the ATB art competition. Both students will have their art professionally framed and hung in the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton from May 29 to June 10. The art is then returned to the students to keep.
Rabbit Hole: Congratulations to the staff and students at Medicine Hat High School for a successful drama production, Rabbit Hole, which ran from May 8-12. Drama teacher, Mr. Chris Stockton, led an impressive performance with the sensitive subject matter and the emotional peaks and valleys of the characters being handled very well by the young drama students.
Joshua Edison and Addison Mohns: Congratulations to Joshua Edison and Addison Mohns, students at Medicine Hat High School, who have become professionally produced playwrights. They wrote the script for the Stage West for Kids production of Sleeping Beauty. Congratulations also to Mr. Chris Stockton, drama teacher at Medicine Hat High School, who directed this production. It will be showing on weekends until the beginning of June.
Spread the Net Initiative: Congratulations to John Berger, Grade 6 student at Crestwood School, who took on the initiative to raise funds for Spread the Net, aRick Mercer Project. John undertook the initiative to make teachers, student council and students aware of the issue of malaria in the world. He developed and presented a PowerPoint and the school raised over $700 to purchase 71 nets to help in the fight against malaria.
Nicole Russill: The District is proud to recognize Nicole Russill as the Edwin Parr nominee that represented Medicine Hat School District No. 76 at the Zone 6 ceremony on May 9th.
MHHS - Badminton: Congratulations to students at Medicine Hat High School who were City and Zone badminton champions. The team, coached by Grant Schaber, won the 4A Zone title this year.
CHHS - Badminton: Congratulations to the students and staff at Crescent Heights High School for a tremendous badminton season. A number of the students represented the school at City and Zone championships.
125 Year Music Gala: Thank you and congratulations for the tremendous job done by elementary choirs, middle and secondary school bands and the handbells choir for their work with the 125 Year Music Gala Celebration. A great deal of time and effort was put into this by staff.
