Kindergarten and
Grade One Registration
To plan effectively for the upcoming year, early registration for Kindergarten and Grade One is required.
Focus Date
Thursday, March 2, 2005 8:30 am to 6:00 pm
Children who will be six years of age by the last day of February, are eligible to enter Grade One in September of that year.
Children who will be five years of age by the last day of February, are eligible for the Kindergarten program in September of that year.
Children with mild/moderate delays may be eligible for programs one year earlier.
Children with an assessed severe disability may qualify for 3 years of programming support.

Please bring your child's Birth Certificate.
A Kindergarten program with a minimum of 475 hours, delivered by certified teachers
will focus on total child development to help lay the foundation
for successful learning. Kindergarten programs operate in most
elementary schools. Please check the "District
Schools" section for details at individual schools.
Early registration is necessary as program decisions for Kindergarten and Grade One depend upon sufficient enrollment. If you require information about attendance areas please call the school district office at 528-6723. Parents unable to register in March are encouraged to phone the school to make alternate arrangements. |

Medicine Hat School District No. 76 provides a unique program which will meet the diverse needs of children ages 2 1/2 - 6 years of age with assessed developmental delays. School based programs are taught by Certified Teachers in natural preschool environments following the Alberta Learning Early Childhood Services philosophy. Parents also have the choice of registering their child in a community child-care setting while still receiving support from Medicine Hat School District No. 76.
