IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED: Your order is being processed and Chromebooks are being delivered to students at school. Devices for students who are attending in person will go directly to the student. The school will notify At-Home/Hub Learners when the device will be ready for pick up at their home school. 

IF YOU STILL NEED TO PURCHASE: We have two purchase options available to families. The links below will take you to SchoolCash Online to allow you to complete the purchase agreement and initiate the delivery of a Chromebook to your child’s home school.

PAYMENT PROCESS INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Click the appropriate link in the table above. This will take you to SchoolCash Online to complete the online purchase agreement and pay the fee. We recommend using chrome as your browser to complete this process. 
    1. If you are already a SchoolCash Online user, please fill out the form first and sign into your school cash account after you have been prompted to.  
    2. If you are new to SchoolCash Online you can:
      1. If paying full amount up front you can use the system as a “Guest”;
      2. Or create an account if you want to use the yearly payment plan option. You will need your childs student ID to create a new account, you can get this from your child’s school. You can pay with credit card or Echeck, In order to use Echeck Here is what you will need:
        1. Bank account number (1-12 digits)
        2. Bank transit number (5digits)
        3. Institution number (3 digits)
  2. If you have multiple children that you are purchasing for, you will need to complete this process for each child.
  3. Chromebooks will be delivered to your child’s school once they are processed and ready for learning.
  4. If a student is registered in the Online HUB (K-9), the Chromebook will still go to their regular enrolment school. Families will be notified when the chromebook is available and will need to arrange for pick up. 

Important notes:

  1. We have limited quantities of new (English and French) chromebooks remaining, they will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
  2. If you are ordering a French keyboard device, please note that delivery of these devices is delayed until sometime in October. 
  3. Note: For current users of SchoolCash Online, while you will be using your existing account, the process is slightly different as you need to fill out the form first and sign into SchoolCash second.

Q1. I have concerns that the software preloaded onto the Chromebooks by the school division will be used to spy on my kids. What is the primary purpose of this software?

The purpose of this software is to allow the school division to properly preload the software tools onto the Chromebooks as well as manage that software list throughout the school year. The school division will not use this software to spy on or track any of the student’s actions on the Chromebook unless it is flagged as a significant security or harassment concern. Enrollment in the Google Management Console software can be ended and removed from the Chromebook at any point.

Q2. If I purchase a device from MHPSD will I be able to download and install programs onto the Chromebooks without the school’s authorization?

You can download and install any programs that you see fit for your child’s learning needs without having to involve the school. Total ownership of the device is transferred to you upon full payment. Please note that these are Chromebooks, so the only applications that can be downloaded and installed are ones from the Chrome Web Store and/or approved apps through the G-Suite store.

Q3. If I purchase a device from MHPSD can I opt-out of the Google Management Console software?

Parents/Guardians can opt out of the management console at any time as long as the device is paid for in full. Parents/Guardians will need to contact school administration with this request. It is important to note that the management console restricts browsing and that by removing the console your child will be able to access websites, outside of the school network, that may not be age appropriate.

Q4. Are there any restrictions on the device by using the Google Management Console?

Only school-approved Google accounts can be used to login to the Chromebook device while it is enrolled in the Management Console. This means no personal G-Mail accounts can be used to login to the Chromebook. The Chromebook will need to be removed from the Management Console before personal G-Mail accounts can be used.

Q5. If I brought my own device should I purchase the Google Management Console software?

If you bring your own device, you do not need to purchase and install the Google Management Console software. MHPSD will not be selling the Google Management Console software to families that choose to bring their own device. Further, we do not recommend that families purchase the Google Management Console as it will not provide any significant value if used outside of the MHPSD network.

Q6. If I send our child with our own device how can I be sure that they aren’t looking at inappropriate content online?

The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy allows any students to bring their personally owned devices into the schools and connect to the school network via the Wi-Fi. The schools Wi-Fi network has thorough restrictions placed on it to ensure that all students are kept safe while browsing online and are also unable to access websites that the school deems inappropriate for students. This restriction extends to various popular social media websites.

Q7. What is the warranty on the Chromebooks, and can I add an extended warranty?

Brand new Chromebooks come with the standard 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. The school division offers no other warranty options for new Chromebooks and no warranty options on used Chromebooks. Locally, Memory Lane is an authorized chromebook dealer and will support warranty claims. 

Q8. How can I purchase a Chromebook for my child?

All families that would like to purchase a NEW chromebook can click on the links in the table above. Please note that there is a limited supply of Chromebooks remaining and they will be sold on a first come first served basis. Q9. Cost is a barrier for me, how can I get a loaner device?

Please contact your child's school and they will help you get set up with a loaner device. 

Q10. When will my child receive the Chromebook that we have purchased?

Chromebooks will be delivered to students at their home school.

Q11. What are the specs for the NEW Chromebook?

Q12. Will the chromebook purchasing option be available for the 2021-2022 school year?

Yes chromebooks will be for sale prior to the 2021-2022 school year. Chromebook purchasing options will be connected to the online registration system.
