Medicine Hat Public School Division is pleased to present this free parent session: "Promoting Executive Function in Children Through Play!" to be held Wednesday, March 28 from 6:30-8pm in the Grant Henderson Learning Centre located at the Division's Central Office (601 - 1st Avenue SW).

Executive Function (EF) including self-regulation is a blanket term that covers a variety of functions that (when in place) allows a child to succeed in school and in life. The exciting thing about EF is that is can be enhanced by playing specific games. The prefrontal cortex is the brain area that supports EF and it has a very prolonged period of development so EF skills can be improved in infancy all the way through to young adulthood.

Presenter for this session is Robbin Gibb, PhD.
Robbin Gibb received her PhD in 2004 from the University of Lethbridge. In July 2004, she accepted a faculty position in the Department of Neuroscience at the U of L. Her research is focused on elucidating the mechanisms underlying the influence of early (pre- and perinatal) experience in shaping the developing brain
